EU survey on gender-based violence against women: Fieldwork completed, results expected 2013

[Brussels, 22 November 2012] The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has issued a project update (November 2012) on its EU-wide survey on Gender-based violence against women. It announced the completion of the fieldwork, involving personal interviews with a random, representative sample totalling over 40,000 women in the 27 EU countries and Croatia.

The survey aims to give results representative of all women aged 18-74 at the level of each country and at EU level on, notably, the prevalence of various forms of violence against women (sexual harassment, physical, psychological, sexual violence, stalking); opinions on violence against women and victim awareness of available support services.

The FRA plans to launch the results at the end of 2013 and welcomes ideas and proposals for communicating materials and results of the survey.
