Global Entrepreneurship Week - Introducing EWL WEstart project

[Brussels, 17 November 2014] The European Women’s Lobby is excited to be a part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. For one week in November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.

On the first day of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the EWL is excited to officially launch our newest project #WEstart: Mapping Women’s Social Entrepreneurship in Europe. We will celebrate the launch of our project and Entrepreneurship Week through a week-long interactive social media campaign that introduces social entrepreneurship, the WEstart project, facts and figures about women’s social entrepreneurship in Europe, and examples of social enterprises that are empowering women throughout the EU.

During the course of the week follow along with hashtags #WEstart and #GEW2014!

  • On Monday we launch the project and campaign with a short animation introducing the project.
  • On Tuesday we introduce facts and figures using sharable infographics and the hashtags #WEstart and #socentfacts.
  • Wednesday is Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Day! We will be live tweeting from the WED conference in Brussels, and sharing best practices.
  • Thursday is Social Entrepreneurship Day! We will be supporting Social Enterprise Scotland as they launch a Thunderclap in support of Social Enterprise in the UK, and highlighting the work of one of our UK Women’s Social Enterprise partners, Flying Start.
  • On Friday we will recap the week with a collection of images and quotes on Pinterest and invite dialogue with a Twitter Chat.
