EU prepares to mark 6th Anti-Trafficking Day with high-level conference to which NGOs are invited

[Brussels, 19 September 2012] To mark the 6th EU Anti-Trafficking Day, the Cyprus EU Presidency and the European Commission are organising a high-level conference in Brussels on 18 October 2012.

The conference ’Working together towards the eradication of trafficking in human beings: The Way Forward’ will focus on the recently adopted EU Strategy on Trafficking in Human Beings. It aims to serve as a forum for exchange of views on shaping future actions to strengthen cooperation, victim protection and assistance, prevention and prosecution in the field of trafficking in human beings.

For this event, the Commission will provide travel arrangements and accommodation for three EU Member States representatives (one representative from a government organisation and two representatives from NGOs, to be selected by Member States). NGOs are advised to contact directly the relevant authority in their respective Member State.

Other interested parties, including civil society representatives, are welcome to this open conference – please note that the Commission will not be reimbursing costs. You can register by returning the registration form before 4th October to mail address HOME-ANTITRAFFICKING@ec.europa.eu. Please note that due to logistical reasons, registrations will be treated by order of priority. We will confirm your participation in the week of 8 October.
