[Zagreb 25 June] On the occasion of Croatian National Day, the 25th of June and Croatian accession to the EU, entering into force on the 1st of July, Rada Boric, EWL Board member and Vice-President was decorated by Croatian president Ivo Josipovic for her "outstanding contribution to the promotion and protection of women’s rights in the Republic of Croatia, countries of the region and in the European Union, her years-long contribution to the fight against violence against women and her work with victims of war rape".

The ceremony was held in National Theatre (with a concert performed by the Croatian Philharmonic Orchestra). The event was well attended by notable figures from political and cultural life, and was transmitted live on national TV.

It was an important event because it was the first time in the Croatian National Theatre that the word feminism was mentioned, and Rada Boric was the first woman ever to get decoration for women’s human rights.

Rada sees the award as a reward for all her feminist friends and for her work with EWL!

We’d like to offer our sincerest congratulations to Rada on this prestigious award.
