EWL delivers training to NGOs at the second edition of the Freja Academy

[Brussels, 14 November 2013] The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) has been invited for the second time to deliver a training during the Freja Academy. The Freja Academy, launched in 2012, is a unique project with the objective to promote the NGOs in Western Balkan, Turkey and EU to strengthen their role and work to be an important and efficient actor in the civil society, based on values of democracy and equal opportunities. One of the tasks of the Freja Academy, besides the networking, is to continuously educate and develop NGO members to increase the knowledge in different areas which will assure a strong and sustainable work for the future.

The EWL is pleased to take part in this important process, and was invited, for the second time, to provide a training on lobbying and advocacy. Pierrette Pape, EWL Policy Officer and Project Coordinator, held a training with around 25 participants from the Balkans, Turkey and Sweden, to share the EWL’s experience and expertise in lobbying and advocacy, presenting technics, strategies and tips for NGOS to strengthen their skills.

The Freja Academy is linked to the Freja Forum, a platform for networking and co-operation for CSOs in Western Balkans, Turkey and EU, which organise every year a series of events to discuss issues on equal opportunities, democracy and development for NGOs in the civil society. The 2013 edition of the Freja Forum took place in Brussels, on 3-5 November. EWL Turkish member organisation Kagider organised a seminar in the European Parliament, hosted by MEP Gesine Meissner in collaboration with the Freja Academy: “Boosting youth and social innovation in the Europe”.
