Prominent supporters of Joint Declaration of 50/50 campaign at Women in Parliaments Brussels Summit

[Brussels, 6 December 2014] As the European elections of May 2014 are approaching, the EWL is receiving more and more prominent supporters to achieve parity in all EU institutions.

The EWL is delighted to gain so much support from influential and inspiring personalities for its work to promote equality between women and men for a more democratic, just and fair Europe.

By signing the Joint Declaration, decision-makers, individuals, organisations and literally everyone can join our efforts for more democracy and justice to let equality between women and men in decision-making and gender parity at all levels and across the boundaries of countries and political parties come reality.

Last week, at the Women in Parliaments Global Forum Summit in Brussels Noble Peace Prize winners, Head of Senates or the Right Livelihood Award winner saw the need to send out a message for more women in politics and they signed the Joined Declaration.

We are grateful for their great support and their willingness to push forward for parity. Thank you so much to Jody Williams, Chair of the Nobel Women’s Initiative and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Denis Mukwege Founder of the Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sabine de Bethune, President of the Senate of Belgium, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir former Prime Minister of Iceland, Rula Al Farra, Member of the House of the Representative of Jordan and Louis Michel, MEP.
